Asher Funnies Part II

Oh, this little boy keeps me giggling all the time. I know it won't end anytime soon, but I do want to remember some of these funny things. Here are some giggle from the last couple of months.

And I'll preface this by saying that Asher suddenly learned how to say "shoulder" correctly. No more "shirtle" for this big boy. Vaughn and I were a little sad so see this one go, we would ALWAYS get a giggle out of it. BUT, he more than made up for it the same exact day when he was saying his prayers and gave thanks for his food and the holy parrots. I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard.

2. Imagine: Asher is quizzing me on his tools. He knows what they are, he just wants to make sure I know what they are.
Asher: Mommy, what is this one?
Me: A flat head screwdriver
Asher: You are connected!
I'm pretty sure he meant correct->corrected->connected?

3. Asher, as most 4 yr
olds, gets pretty upset at some silly things. I usually say something that includes, "It doesn't matter." So now, he does around ALL the time saying, "I don't matter. I don't matter if my hands get dirty."
He doesn't get that he isn't saying it correctly, but I just want to shake his little shoulders and say, "You do too matter!"

He told me the other day that his favorite type of crocodile was an alligator. :)

He still can't blend sounds at the beginning of words, so we have some funnies, two of which I hear a lot.

crow=throw. As in "I crow it in the garbage."
pider=spider. "I want my pider costume to to be black and scary."

Love this boy so much!

The Impossible Picture

The Impossible Picture. Two kids. One frustrated Mama.

I know every mama with more than 1 kid can relate to this challenge.

There are about 6 other pictures in this series and these were the best of the best!

Lucky me.

Oh well, I gave up before it got too bad. At least I know how cute they are together...hopefully I'll remember in about 10 yrs!

Happy 10 Months, Maryclaire!

Girly, you are just full of personality and keep me on my toes ALL THE TIME! You are so happy and sweet. I just can't get over you are 10 months old.

At 10 months, you:

1. Weighed 15.9 lbs at your Dr.'s appt. this month and were 26.5 inches tall. You don't even register on the charts for weight and are less than 10% for height. Such a change b/c you were previously in the 50-60th percentiles for height.

2. You wear 6-9 month clothes for the most part and sz. 2 diapers. You wear a size 2 shoe. You are just a petite little thing.

3. Still nursing every 3-4 hrs round the clock (excluding the one time you sttn this month) and are eating meals and snacks too. You will only eat babyfood if its fruit and I have to sneak your baby food veggies in with other things. You are very much into table foods and whatever we are eating.

4. We have to put you in the play pen often during the day to keep you out of trouble. You will usually sit in it and play happily for about 15-20 minutes. You won't be contained by the jumper any more.

5. You are still going to bed around 7:45 every night and are up anywhere between 6:45-7:45 in the morning. You take usually take 2 naps, but sometimes we struggle with it.

6. You talk and babble all the time. You started waving and saying "
ba-ba" (bye bye) a few days ago. Not in context...just all the time, over and over. It's so cute.

7. You are still cruising the furniture and barely hold on to things anymore. Sometimes you just hold on with one hand or lean against whatever it is you are next to. You took 3 steps holding just ONE of my hands the other day. I think you'll be walking by Thanksgiving.

8. You got your first tooth. It was rough. You also were sick for the second time. First, a stomach bug then Roseola. None of it was fun.

9. Your Daddy took you and your brother out for the first time by himself the other day. He took y'all to the library. He said you need to learn library etiquette. You were quite the chatty girl.

10. And a funny story: Our new house doesn't have have an open floor plan and I can't see you from the kitchen to the living room. The day we were moving in, I left you in the living room for about 30 seconds unattended to fix your brother something to drink. Your Granbud walked into the living room and found you had climbed into the black, dirty fireplace! Your little hands were covered in black soot. We had to keep the fireplace covered up with boxes for a good while. You know better now!

Love you, sweet girl!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I've read several of these posts from fellow blogger friends and I just have to participate this week. It's midnight, so bear with me as my thoughts might be a little difficult to follow!

What I'm loving this Wednesday?

1. My Daddy. Seriously, this man is my hero. He has really bailed me out of some sticky situations the past few weeks. Without him, I wouldn't have a new fence for our backyard. I just might be still stranded at Kroger with a dead battery, and I would have had to spend a fortune calling a plumber to fix BOTH of toilets over the weekend, and I probably wouldn't have the kid's bedrooms painted yet. Thank you, Daddy, for all your hard work!

2. My little boy, who out of the blue on the way home from school today, recited the verse, "Call upon me in the day of trouble and I will deliver you, and you will honor me." I felt like the Grinch when his heart grew about 10 times in size. Precious. Absolutely the highlight of my day.

3.The weather. It is fabulous fall weather here in the south. I'll even take the rain too!

4. My mantle. I finally got in decorated for Fall.

What I'm not loving? This hair.

I'm trying to do too many challenging things at once. 1. I'm trying to get to my natural hair color and in the process I am having some major scary root-age showing. 2. I'm trying to let it be wavy and go with what it naturally wants to do. I'm tired of of all the straightening. 3. I'm trying to grow it out...again...for the umpteenth time (I've never actually been successful either).

Any suggestions? Keep the roots, dye the ends? Wear a hat (I'm really not a hat girl). Ponytail? Anybody tried a product that you swear will help your hair grow faster?

Meet Mille: Age 2, Cancer Patient

This is Millie. 2.5 Yr old beautiful, precious Millie. She was recently diagnosed with a rare type of cancer that effects only 20 people in the US yearly.

She is the grand-daughter of a long time time family friend. Her story makes me ache as a parent of two young, healthy children. Millie is who God lays on my heart as I am rocking my own sweet daughter to sleep at night.

I know there are so many more children just like Millie, but her story hits so close to home.

If you would be so kind, take a moment to check out her website here

The Sickies and a Surprise

Maryclaire started acting a little not like herself on Wednesday. She ran a really high fever, was lethargic and wanted to sleep a lot for the next few days, but overall was still happy and eating well.

Thank goodness we have a nurse line to call b/c we pay $95 out of pocket every time we have to visit the pediatrician. They advised me to just ride it out, it was probably just a virus. Her fever broke by Friday afternoon, but she's turned into a little fuss pot this weekend. She's usually such a good baby...at least with me!

She has just been out of sorts and sleeping very poorly too. Well, low and behold, what did I find in her mouth today? Her first tooth! That explains a lot.

Oh, and the virus we thought she had? Actually Roseola... I noticed the textbook rash on her tonight that comes after the fever. At least that one is over and done with!

Wack Wednesday

So many random things I think I'm just going to have to list them out.

1. Praise the Lord, Maryclaire slept thought the night for the 2nd time in her nine months last night. Too bad I didn't get to bed until after midnight to really take advantage of it.

2. Speaking of sleeping, Asher woke me up at 3am the other night to wash his hands...because he had picked a boogie...at 3am. Nice.

3. And me? I've been sleeping on top of my covers with just a blanket...because it saves me time in the morning not having to make the bed, arrange the pillows, etc. I know, I know. I should be ashamed of myself. Isn't this the equivalent to sleeping in your school clothes when you're a kid?

4. And more time saving efforts? We've been eating off a lot of paper plates and I've been lining all my pans with foil when I cook so I don't have to give them a scrub down after I've cooked. I just remove the foil, rinse and Voila, I'm done.

5. Did I really just admit #3 and #4 to blog world. Yep, I think I did.

6. More time saving efforts? I'm letting me hair be a little more natural these days and I'm trying to work with this wavy mess I was blessed with. I'm also trying to get all the color out of my hair. I've been dyeing my hair since I was 14...I don't even know what my real color is anymore and I kinda want to find out (probably so I can hate it and just promptly dye it again).

8. I have re-arranged the furniture in my living room at least a dozen times. I just can't seem to get it right. I'm running out of options...and muscle...and my husband's patience.

9. Speaking of, the hubby and I celebrated 8 years this week. Why does time seem to fly by the older I get? Geez, it seems like we were just a couple of kids getting hitched yesterday!

1o. The house is coming along slowly but surely. We've all the bedrooms painted and 90% of the living room. Up next is the kitchen and my gaol is to get all the painting done by Thanksgiving so I can put my house together for Christmas decorations.

11. Yes, I said Christmas. Which makes me think of our Christmas tree. Which makes me think of my baby girl who is going to be all over that tree. What am I going to do? I don't want a small tree to put on a table. I don't want to buy a gate to put around it either. What are my other options? Because this girl is into everything and I just know the Christmas tree is going to be a challenge. And don't think I'm crazy b/c I'm already thinking of Christmas. We all know it will be here before we know it.

12. I am blogging tonight instead of working on the house. I'm in house burn out mode. I refuse to unpack the rest of my boxes until I finish painting and I'm tired of painting. And I need new rollers, and painting tape and TIME, so I'm throwing in the towel for at least tonight.

13. Asher wanted to wash the dishes the other night. Seriously. So, I let him...with a little help. It will probably never happen again. Ever.

14. I have seriously been lacking on the mamarazzi front. These are about the only pics I have besides our apple picking outing. Must do better!

Happy Hump Day!

Fall Fun Apple Picking

I love Fall.

I love everything about it. It makes me feel giddy like a little kid jumping in a pile of leaves.

Saturday, we took a break from working on the house and drove 2 hrs into North Ga. after Asher's soccer game. We went to the Red Apple Barn in Ellijay to pick apples. We met my mom, dad, sister, brother in law, niece and nephew.

It was PERFECT! Perfect weather, perfect company, perfectly picturesque scenery. I don't think many things are worth a two hour drive with a squirmy 9 month old in the car, but this was so worth it!

Everyone had a wonderful time and this fall outing will go down in the books as a must do for years to come.
